It has rural, farmland, suburban and urban residential areas as well as substantial industrial and commercial areas. The township spans a length of approximately twenty miles between New Brunswick and Princeton Township with the historic Delaware and Raritan Canal and the Raritan and Millstone Rivers forming its entire northerly and westerly boundaries.
