The town of Bedminster, settled by Dutch, German, Scottish and Irish immigrants, was a rural farming community until 1890 when rail service linked the area to the cities.
The township is 26.70 square miles and there are three villages: Bedminster, Pluckemin and Pottersville.
Residents of the township enjoy the sprawling green countryside with its farmland, pasture fields and trout streams. Driving with care on the area roads is a necessity. Cyclists, runners, horses, hounds, hunters, deer, fisherman, farm vehicles and balloonists may all be found in and around Bedminster.
